Hello Everyone, I just received my first Omega - a vintage Seamaster from around 1960 (I think). I was hoping for some opinions on originality / value and any additional information anyone could tell me about the watch. Thank you!
But hopefully in a better way than the last twit who tried to open the case back... Noooo, nooo, not the screwdriver....
Here are some photos of the movement. Also, I wanted to mention it wasn’t me who took a chisel to the caseback. Is it a caliber 268? I am a bit of a noob... Also, what makes you think it’s a “redial”. In person it is an ivory / cream color and has patina throughout.
I am obviously a noob so could someone explain to me why the omega "symbol" looks as if it is almost on top of the omega writing?
On the dial @Temprus shows there is no "Seamaster" designation. On the OP's it is so the justification height-wise is tighter. The second on bottom dictates the placement.
That was also my first thought on seeing the pics, it does look really close. Can’t comment on the dial fonts not seen enough of these yet.
And it does look close, a better photo straight on with the hands out of the way would be very helpful.
The "Seamaster" font is not the same as on my 1961 model - the cross-stroke on the "t" is quite different. Also on mine there is a clear gap betweeen the "S" and the "e" which isn't nearly as noticeable as on the OPs photo
Here's a more a direct comparison - and the applied metal logo is spaced further up. Hmmm... This photo is from this thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-meister.15374/
I disagree. The Omega is too close, and the printing is rough. The minute marks are badly spaced around the metal markers on the right side of the dial. The cross-hair of the seconds hand is rough. The "swiss made" is word-centered. I vote redial. Better pics would help, though!.
I appreciate all the feedback! I don’t have a nice camera but I tried to take better photos with my phone. Just trying to figure out what I have here - It was sold to me as “all original”. By “redial” does it mean the dial was reprinted in some way.
