Hello, I have recently bought a stainless steel constellation, When I look up the case no. on the vintage database (167.005 is the number in the case back but to find it on the site I have to use 167.0005) it lists the correct calibre number (551) but says that it has a pie pan dial and is gold capped on stainless steel.

the thing is - its not the pie pan dial and its all stainless steel afaik. Can anyone offer any further information? 7.JPG IMG_20141114_094854.jpg IMG_20141114_094716.jpg IMG_20141114_160452.jpg

    Thanks,
    Colin.

This case reference is a common one and came with a variety of case metals and dials - solid gold, gold cap and stainless steel for the former and piepan and non-piepan dials for the latter. The OVD is misleading in this regard (and is also terribly incomplete).

"The OVD is misleading in this regard (and is also terribly incomplete)."

And quite a bit of incorrect information as well.

Would anyone like to comment on the authenticity of this? Have been researching my case number there seems to be some fake stainless 167.005 - from what I can see this one looks to be genuine...opinions?

    Thanks

    stainless is good :)

pls get it serviced, and give the crystal a polish, leave the case alone ( ie dont polish it but get the watchmaker to ultrasonically clean it) and it will be for a few more years to come

I have a new seal and crystal on order (genuine) and the movement will have a clean and service :)

Not sure if I should get a replacement crown as the one on there seems good.
