Hello to all ,
I’m a newbie here as I’ve just had the Speedmaster my father gave me when I was taking lessons to be a private pilot about 1967/1968 overhauled . Never wore it much . Had it locally serviced once and recently started wearing it. I’m 74 years old for perspective. Crown fell off.
It went to Switzerland via Swatch for service . One year later I got back with documentation and a fancy box . I asked them to retain any “ patina “ if possible.
They did sadly , replace the face , but returned the original with a lot other parts.
Face appears identical to the original just “ new” . Maybe it isn’t identical but I can’t tell.
The model is 055ST1450012SP-67. The serial number is 25008894.
This is according to Omega as I assume it is all recorded inside the watch .
Just interested in its history. I’ve found a couple of websites but nothing particularly detailed . If you know a good website I’d appreciate it
Thanks to all

Getting the original dial back on it would be a good step, the new one will never be quite right. Very cool watch your dad got you, do you still fly?

Actually the new one looks identical to my eye . I will of course keep the original if someday in the future a more avid collector would like to do so .
Yes I have been an active general aviation pilot and am retired USAF navigator .
Accurate time was the life blood of a combat navigator . All was done referencing GMT
Sadly the Speedmaster was not a hack watch which was a necessity
I tried ,decades ago, by gently reversing the crown , but it was too cumbersome.
