New Sub 124060

I had a Rolex oyster perpetual many years ago and never really liked it. I should’ve bought the sub at the time but all my friends told me it was too big. I’m looking for a new daily wear and the new submariner no date is really attractive to me. I looked at one a few years back but I refuse to play the Rolex game of black market guys marking everything up and so I turn toward more Omega‘s. I’ve read the reviews on it and I don’t really say anything negative and I like the larger size and recent changes. I called the local A.D. and they were pretty snotty and told me I had to come in to discuss it and they might put my name on a waiting list. I have another call into a dealer in another city and if someone would treat me decently I wouldn’t mind putting my name on a waiting list. Any advice out there since I have not been a Rolex guy in 30 years. Thanks very much for any input.

I've come across a few snotty Rolex AD, I think they just don't care. It's supply and demand. If you don't want a watch, they will find someone else.

But I found more that are polite, respectful and helpful. I think it depends on what you're looking to do. Build a relationship with the AD or buy the watch and be done with the AD.

You're not doing them a favor by putting your name on a list; they don't care. They can sell every Sub they get immediately. So they are using the waiting list as bait to get people into the store. if you want to buy one in 2021, you should get on some lists ASAP by going there in person and shopping a bit. If you don't like the way they are treating you, then buy an Omega. Or an older pre-owned Sub.

My vote goes for the current sea dweller. It has vintage proportions, but slightly larger. Its super-comfortable and scratches the red submariner 1680 itch. Its well worth a try, and I don't believe its anywhere as popular as the submariner.

imho the current Sea Dweller has nothing to do with vintage and nothing to do with Sea dweller...
Too big, one red line and this ugly cyclope, that a Sea Dweller should not have...

Yeah the cyclops was a mistake on the SD.

By all accounts the new Sub is something very lovely indeed but it will be a long waiting list especially without the date function. My AD said it would be harder to get the new Sub than the GMT I've been waiting for for two years already.

I'd get your name on a friendly list and buy an Omega in the meantime. That's what I did 😉

I´ve only yet seen it in photos, but I do like the look of the new Sub 124060! I feel it´s a "normal" evolution of my old 14060. I was never very keen on the previous maxi case and fat lugs!

The AD route is a good way to get the watch, there are stories floating around of people being able to pick one up without any previous history, my AD has received a good number of Subs since the launch but hasn't received much else. Still have a long list of interested parties in the watch though.

Received mine within 3 weeks of registering for the watch and I am loving it, so be patient and work with an AD and who knows what will happen.
