Hey guys, I caught the speedy bug, and after much deliberation and research, I went with a 145.012 from 1967. It just came in today and I'm more than pleased. It is in pristine condition, the DON bezel almost untouched, beautiful patina on the dial, original bracelet, crown and crystal (with some minor scratches over the years).

Let me know what you guys think, hopefully I didn't overlook anything :)

By the way, even with the bracelet set at the highest adjustment setting, it won't fit over my hand to go on my wrist, so sorry no wrist shots yet. My question to you guys is, 1) should I try to source some 1039 bracelet links to add on this, 2) strap some old leather strap on it, or 3) find a newer speedy bracelet to put on it which is a bit heavier, better built, etc. I'd like to do option #1 if possible, but let me know what you guys would do if you were me.

Thanks, and here's some eye candy ::love::

    very nice!

put it on leather right away! then start looking either for links or another bracelet. they are available on ebay - though not cheap - but probably easier than trying to find links alone.

Cool, thanks for the feedback and comments guys! I appreciate it. This is one of my grails and will be treated as such!

I've heard two votes for speedy on leather.. If anyone has this configuration already, post it here I'd like to get some ideas.. Besides Google, and what I see in the WRUW thread :)

That looks great! It's in fantastic condition. For the links, you have the correct 516 end pieces which is 70% of the battle. Ebay always seems to have short bracelets available with no or incorrect end pieces. Not too many buyers are looking for this set up but it's perfect for a guy in need of some extra links. In the meantime, not sure if you've seen this thread for leather options:

    Great purchase!

Thanks @Selbo & @watchcollect et all! Well I just so happened to have this leather strap laying around so, after a quick change, we've got some wrist shots :)

Think I'll still look for a few more extra links for the 1039 or buy one that is incomplete, just because I'd like to eventually have the option of bracelet or leather! But I think for the foreseeable future this baby will be some some sort of leather.

Very nice find. The stretchy links come up regularly on eBay (or bracelets parts). Great looking watch!

I have a 1039 bracelet I am probably going to sell because, just like your situation, it is too small for my wrist, so I went with a Nasa repro strap, and have a Shell Leather band on the way :)

Love it, just today I was talking to someone about getting a 1967 speedie to continue my goal of family birth year watches. Tours looks great. No over aging, no painted patina, just simple and we'll kept. Congrats
