Gents - 6 month old Speedy today showing some fogging underneath crystal. I was caught in a fairly torrential rain storm on Saturday, in short sleeves, so certainly my Speedy was exposed to moisture. I then flew home on a 9 hour flight yesterday (from Paris). And greeted with fogging this afternoon. So - I am perplexed as to what I can do to resolve this. Take watch to local AD? Just wait? I have read that perhaps a removal of case back is in order? Feasible without tools? Looking for practical advice. I was under the impression the watch was safe up to 50 meters of water exposure. So I am rightfully perplexed to exposure to a long rainstorm. Thank you!
One way or another you got water in a 6month old watch... Looks like a warranty repair. Get it to Omega ASAP.
If you don't have a case tool then you should go to a watchmaker who can remove the caseback, dry it out, check it and test it for water tightness.
Back to the point of sale then. Explain that you haven't been helium diving with it and they should do all of the things I noted above.
Well my Speedy was purchased from a dealer in Europe - I assume my warranty is simply honored in US. I have my warranty card - imagine its a simple process to go into any AD and present card ...
Take it to any AD along with the stamped warranty card and they will send it away for repair. Be thankful it's under warranty.
Keep us posted ... Anytime something like this happens, it's an opportunity for all of us to learn something new about these watches we're so obsessed with ... Good luck!!
Until you make it to the AD, place it upside down (on the crystal). That way, when the water condenses, it'll pool away from the movement and dial.
Very bad. Get thee to your AD and kiss it goodby for 6 weeks. I'd actually ask for a new watch. A new watch should not leak like that.
Even my Speedy handles rains quite well. There should be no problem of this nature in any watch having 30 meter water rating. I'm sure your speedy is 50 m water resistant. Send to the Company with a note asap. And keep posted here.
that's a bummer and unfortunate!! this is a reason @Smspectre reserves these models for indoor use only; as discussed here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/water-in-po.45550/page-6#post-542816 ...seriously now, the good thing the repair will be covered under warranty (me thinks), the bad thing is that your Speedy will be out a few long weeks before you get it back on your wrist come back and tell us about the final outcome! good luck!
Sorry to hear but the watch will be taken care of. Strange three fogging omega incidents in about a week. Different models but what a weird trail.
