Would you rather buy the new Speedmaster Ed White or a gold Seamaster diver 300 ?

    Personally I'd pick the Seamaster

Strange watch to compare with as the Seamaster is probabley available at a heavy discount, saying that if all things were equal the Speedmaster everyday of the week, month year!

At the risk of enflaming some OF members, I think that as sports watches are made for a specific purpose, what they are made of should be consistent with that purpose. To me they look right in stainless steel or titanium, but in gold they look conflicted.
I love gold watches - but not gold sports watches. It is like having a gold plated Hummer.

Sure. But seriously, would you really dive with one?

    +1 for the Seamaster.

Because it tells the time + the date!

The gold SMP does nothing for me personally, especially at that price -- just find gold or any PM a less than compelling look for a tool watch, never mind the added weight on an already heavy watch.

Were it my cash I'd spend big on the new EW or, more likely, find something I loved even more and look again at the ceramic SMP which has the looks and the chops, IMO.

Thanks - I detect another ancient coin aficionado.... Here are both sides. Do you think our OF friends would call this a tropical patina?

None of the gold Seamasters have a full gold bracelet at the moment. For this reason, I would choose the Seamaster 300 in Sedna gold.

Between these two I would choose the Speedy 321! I am generally not a fan of gold dive watches. For the same money I like the yellow gold Tresor with the beautiful 8929 movement:

I think not much point comparing this 2 watches.

Seamaster has that price for the Gold.

321 has that price for the movement.

    Buy what makes you happy.

I will be happy with the 321.
