Has anyone ordered the new 3861 direct from Omega? I contacted a couple ADs but they all want a deposit and a 3-4 month wait at retail MSRP. Why would anyone order from an AD at this point if they can go direct to Omega? I could be missing something, just curious on others experiences.
I'm not sure what part of the world you're in but out here in SoCal, ADs have 3861s, both Hesalite and Sapphire. Discounts available as well. Both a 3861 Hesalite for $5500 from my AD
Here in Europe and Germany you only get the new one via the boutique. The AD still have to wait until may
$5500 for the Hesalite is a deal right now. No discount at my AD when I checked one out about a month ago.....
It’ll take a few months for demand to settle and supply to catch up so yea patience would be a virtue at this point, make no mistake Omega would not go to the trouble of making the Calibre 3861 movement if they didn’t intend to produce a lot of them and before long they will be in stock everywhere.
Yeah I'll wait awhile. My 1861 keeps going up in value and the 3861 keeps going down. Eventually they'll be close enough to sell the old and buy the new.
I think if you call the Omega online sales they will tell you how long it will take to get the watch. Assuming it is available then you pay full price and you get the watch in 3-4 days. Your AD may not have one today, but if you wait, they will be getting them and then you can try to get at a discount. If you place an order with the AD today, they are charging for deposits probably because they are taking orders and will fill these orders as they receive the watches, to those who made a deposit first and probably payed full price. So you are absolutely right. Why pay full price and wait for the AD when you can pay full price and get one in stock from Omega on line. If saving a little money isn't an issue for you then buy it at full price.
Indeed. I'm waiting for them to pass each other on the way, and then reap a tidy profit on the exchange. It may be a very long wait.
They are becoming available pretty much everywhere. I've seen all 4 versions in the window of Warsaw Omega boutique, ADs are also receiving some. Where are you from?
Los Angeles. After calling around I found one dealer willing to give a small discount but still searching.
ADs should be giving discount. New models just have to wait a little for demand to come down/supply to go up.
What are the chances of dealers (or Omega on their website) still having brand new 1861 hesalite models?
If you really want a new 1861 speedy, try calling OBs and ADs in big US cities like LA. I think it is possible to find one.
