New Seamaster Accuracy

Hi guys,

I just bought a new seamaster and on the first day I got it it was +4. How accurate is it supposed to be? I’ve seen people saying their metas movements lose less than a second a day over many weeks so I’m just concerned. Thanks

+4 is nothing to worry about. My METAS Deep Black is at about +3-4 seconds per day as well. Well within specifications. Keep in mind that a new watch will often take some time to "settle in". A couple of my 8500 series PO's were a touch fast when I first got them and now they're both about +1-1.5 a day. In the grand scheme of things +4 in insanely accurate.

+4 is fine, you can fiddle around with positioning at night and might tighten the rate a bit. But too much effort for me.

+4 is accurate. As mentioned above if you can fine some position that is minus rate and you place your watch in that position your watch will be more accurate. For example my watch has daily worn(random position) rate is +5s/d but I know that my watch in crown up position is -5s/d so I wear it all day and place it in crown up at night so my watch accuracy for 1 month is 0.1s/d very accurate. (Mechanical watch accuracy cannot be found in 1 day.)

my new SMP used to be +3 sec a day for a couple of months and now for the past month it has been accurate to the second.

@Squan What i do now is micromanage the accuracy of my watch to keep it's perfect timing. When i see that it has added a second i rest it at night dial up and it slows down. Same thing when it's a little bit slower i rest it crown up and again it catches up! Overall the watch now is one of the most accurate watches i have ever owned.

Beautiful watch -- congrats.

Mine was +4ish for the first few weeks, a bit disappointing when set against my Pelagos, which has been spookily accurate from the beginning, but is now within 1 second a day. It's a truly great watch IMO, and a real grower, since it can look and feel so different depending on lighting and the strap/bracelet it's on. A real changeling.

My PO was at +6 for months and has recently calmed down to +3.5 a day...not sure why...

My Seamaster also was (and continues to be) 4 seconds per day fast. If I rest if crown down, it helps a little. My Speedmaster is about 10 seconds a day fast, but it's also magnetized (according to the app on my phone) so I've ordered a demagnetizer and we'll see how that helps.

My ceramic smp 8800 was +1.5 sec a day for over a year then out of the blue it was -10. Then -20. Sent it in for warranty work and they told me it was “out of spec”. Got it back and now it’s +5. They never went into detail about what was wrong. Just got the watch back with a little bag full of tiny parts

My Railmaster 57 LE's 8806 in the past two weeks has not varied more than a second a day and usually a lot less.

I might cry when that changes. 😁
