Morning all

I'm off to my local authorised dealer tomorrow to buy my 1st Omega and could do with a bit of advice.

I like the look of both the Seamaster 300 automatic on a brown leather strap and the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m on a metal bracelet.

How have people found these two models as although I prefer the look of the 300 Automatic on the leather strap I'm concerned about how a leather strap will wear as a day to day watch as all of my previous day to day watches have been metal bands so I know they are durable.

Thanks in advance

Can’t comment on the specific watch, but if you wear it daily, including hot summer days, you’ll go through leather straps at a rate of maybe 2-3 years per strap. Also depends on a few more factors: Do you go swimming/showering with it, for example.

I don’t necessarily consider this as a big downside though. Putting a new strap on after a few years, possibly in a completely different color, is awesome. Feels almost like getting a new watch.

Welcome Mack.

Bracelets are nice and so are straps, so the best option is to get a watch with a bracelet.

That allows you to chop and change as seasons/preferences dictate.

You also have the option to use NATO straps for when you go huntn/fishin/shootn.
You can just chuck them in the wash to get rid of the fish guts or other stuff when you get home.

Buy it on a bracelet, then swap it over to a strap as and when you feel like it later. That way you effectively have a new watch every time.😉

Welcome to the OF.

Like others have said, buy one on a bracelet and then you can always put a strap on it later.

Bracelet will cost near £1000 to add to your end choice, OEM NATO £150 Leather strap £250/400.
As stated earlier, whichever you choose buy it on the bracelet, do a deal for a strap at the same time and ask them to swap the bracelet to the strap. If you hate the bracelet you’ll get most return on metal when selling or keep it pristine for when you sell upgrade.
