Not even necessary to go into that kind of detail. If she asks "Is that a new watch?" simply say "No." Voila!!! It is, after all, a used watch so you aren't lying to your wife.
Haha. Tell her what my wife tells me when I see her with new shoes, "I've had this for a long time. You're just now noticing?" Also, I have a policy where when I buy a new watch, I buy her a little something too.
