breathes huge sigh of relief !!! Is it the lack of wear to the back which on 18k I guess is fairly rare. I have purchased this as an investment piece and so would value comments. should I clean , leave well alone etc. Thanks guys I really appreciate your wisdom on this.
Prestigious retailer. English cased Connie. (The additional 5 to the reference gives it away. ) If you look inside the caseback you’ll find if it was Dennison or Shackmann. Being retailed in 68 it could be either. By chance I came across this previous discussion. https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-constellation-564-calibre-advice.48133/
It’s a big step forward from your last post “My New Watch” My only concern is the handset looks a little short. The minute hand should reach the minute markers and the sweep hand should reach slightly further. It’s nothing to be concerned about, you have done well, enjoy your watch!
Really nice set. But why is there 2 certificates of high precision. Are they differnt inside ( i see they have slightly different front covers)? Cheers paul
Hi @Rickyp , I'm not sure if you have come across the following website. It's a great resource for Constellation owners. omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com
I get a little nervous everytime I read that something has been bought as an investment piece, especially from people who've recently started collecting. Whether or not it will be a good investment will be decided partly by how the market develops and partly how much of an outlay the watch commanded. You can't really affect the first factor and the only way to strike a bargain is through knowledge or luck. Now, do you feel lucky, Ricky..? From a personal viewpoint, as an investment I would be cautious to place faith in a locally produced dress watch, even if the quality of the case is on par with the Swiss counterparts. But who knows, perhaps a feeling of refound patriotism will surge through England after Brexit and cause a boost in the values of these pieces I do find that the comments in the thread are perhaps a bit generous in their praise of the condition of the watch, as the dial is rather spotted and the case a bit soft for my liking. The medallion with it's characteristic, bold stars is good though and who doesn't like a full set?
