    HI

I'm new to the Forum and this is my first post, I greatly appreciate your time and your shared knowledge.
I purchased these two Omega watches this year and would like some expert advice on their condition and if they are all genuine.
The first watch is a 1963 167.005 Omega pie pan constellation, it appears in nice condition but looks to have been polished at some point.
The second is a rare Omega 2420 from approx. 1948 with a 28.10 bumper movement, the watch is solid 14k gold and all properly marked. I know the crown and crystal has been replaced, not 100% on the dial. Is this a rare watch, I know that the 2420 in stainless steel is rare but I have never seen anything on a gold version. it would help if you could show the watch's movements, and more focused photos of the dials

Constellation looks original from the pictures. Would appreciate a close up.

I believe that the Constellation looks good, but the other one has been redialed.

Even though the Constellation looks original, you should get it opened up by a watchmaker - there is a piece of luminous compound that has come loose from the dial rolling around. If you don't do something, it'll break up and could get into the movement, causing more wear to the gears etc. and potentially causing damage. A skilled watchmaker might be able to get it out and reattach it to the dial.

I would guess the bumper has been redialed, as the print of Omega looks too close to the logo, there also appears to be a smear of print between the two, just above the G

Hi, Thank you for that great piece of advice, I will have it opened and removed. Best to do it before it becomes a problem.

I thought it might have been a redial but wasn't 100% sure, It looks so nice in person that I'm ok with it until I get a original dial for it. Thank you!

Would you please take 3 close ups on the 167.005.
    1_Constellation.
    2_ Minute markers from 10 o'clock to 12.
    3_Minute markers from 4 o'clock to 6.

Hopefully, I can tell you if it has original dial or refinished.

    Thanks.

I added a few new photos of the dial, hope they are clear enough as I do not take very good pictures.

After looking carefully at your pictures, I would say the dial was cleaned then reprinted by a skilled redialer.
The font is thicker than the original font and the minute markers from 9,10,11 and 12 o'clock hit the edge of the pie pan.
I copy one of your pictures then cropped it to show you that area and two pictures from mine so that you can compare the difference.
    Regards

    Hoi.

    Thanks Hoi,
I greatly appreciate the information, Not exactly what I would like to hear but I would rather know for sure. I picked it up from shop for $550 Canadian (approx. $415 usd) For that money I can always wear it in good health until I can pick up a original dial.
    Best regards,
    Martin

You certainly should. Except that I'm not convinced you need a new dial. You it for bought about half market value even if it turns out to be a redial. Maybe 1/4 to 1/3 if the dial turns out to be original.

Take some pictures with a sharper focus and from directly above the dial.

Pie-pan Constellations need to be viewed in person to really be able to properly judge dial authenticity.

I was told that the watch was a one owner, the case back only shows marks of only one repair.
Thanks to everyone who has replied and gave me great advice.:):)
