New Omega Owner saying 'Konnichiwa'.

Hello everyone

This introductory post is completely accidental. I should not be posting here nor should I have posted pics and details of my new Tintin over on the 48 pps thread devoted to that model. In fact it should not be on my wrist as I sit writing this.

It all started innocently enough. Went into Bic Camera in Shibuya looking for a new phone case and purely by accident found myself standing in front of the Omega display case on the 3rd floor turn left as you exit the elevator.

As I approached the little checkerboard Speedie had jostled it's way to the front of the case through all the other watches and was whining piteously and jumping up and down obviously desperate to be taken home.

So despite having spent the last year and a half zeroing in on what was to be my next purchase, hours of tedious research I might add, a Nomos Weltzeit Nachtblau, I instantly bought the Tintin and clamped it to my wrist, job done.

Now here I am on yet another watch forum and looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Hello Phil
See you're one of the 'blessed' too.

Was hoping that restoring a Favre Leuba from 1987 would scratch the itch but no such luck. The watch pictured below which is a 250th anniversary commerative piece from the company and which sat around since the mid '90's suffering from flaking gold and a 36mm case size just got serviced, recased (last one in the world) and given a new Hirsch strap plus original buckle. I thought that would delay another new purchase but as you see...
I'm fond of German watches too. Yourself?

1 "l" Philip also.

My collection ranges from 2 Speedmasters a 145.022-76 to a Speedy Yeman, a Planet Ocean Chrono, a modern Seiko Diver and a vintage Seiko navigator timer to a few 66-72 pieces from various MFG's. But alas only 1 German. A Sinn 903 Navitimer, which if you know Navitimer history is a pretty cool piece.

Love the Favre!

Biiiiicu, bicu, bicu, bicu- camera!

Once it's in your head, it's hard to get it out!

I sadly regret not pulling the trigger last time I was at the Don Quixote in Asakusa - good on you for following through! ... And congratulations on a lovely watch.

Cheers Bigsom

'Don Quixote in Asakusa.'
Why you had to say that? Why?

Bic keeps all their watches HEAVILY wrapped in plastic including everything bracelet, the lot unlike Yodabashi Camera in Shinjuku where first saw a Tintin sometime last year. Only the circular factory plastic pieces in place there!

Nice. Sold my Navitimer World mid last year and regretted it. Looked at the Sinn 903 long and hard. The Breitling is just too at risk from any kind of liquid but the Sinn isn't and size is more sensible in my opinion. That's a lovely one!

Speedy Yeman???
Alas mine does not have the higher water resistance as the newer ones with the inner bezel crown at 10. Mine has the Lemania movement from the Speedmaster but the design from the original Navitimers.

The Speedy Yeman is a nickname for a specific Speedmaster Date model that harkens to the Daytona but in the colors of the Yeman flag.

Lemania movement is so sought after isn't it! Really a collectable piece.

The Yeman is very cool looking, and tasty looking strap... feeling myself being sucked into this collecting area!!!

My only other watches are a Damasko DK101 and a Muhle Glashutte Terrasport III with the faux lume 9-12-3-6. And a Core. That's it though...I think.
