I always love the look of NATO, but when wearing it myself, I don't like it. I find it uncomfortable. I have Omega's and an aftermarket NATO strap, both are uncomfortable....but I love the look though.

 

I relate to this. I like the idea of a NATO more than actually wearing one. But they do look good. Keep the pics rolling in!

I read it here on OF that NATO straps do a lot of damage to the case back ??

 

Can't imagine how nylon would damage a steel or titanium case back.

 

I would disagree with whomever made that claim.

It isn't the strap per se, but the grit and grime that gets between the watch and strap that act as sandpaper.

 

Along the same lines then is the same grit and grime causes rust and wear on a metal strap as well. Most NATO strap mfg's recommend washing said strap once a week with mild soap, which if followed will more than likely eliminate the problem. I personally rotate my straps every few days and rinse them whenever I've been to the gym, golf course, or got laid...

 

So the long and short of it is don’t be nasty. Wash your NATO’s and wipe down your watch often.

 

And also according to the threads scientific studies, NATO’s cause herpes when worn on Connies

 

Especially if worn while riding a tractor trailer...
