I always love the look of NATO, but when wearing it myself, I don't like it. I find it uncomfortable. I have Omega's and an aftermarket NATO strap, both are uncomfortable....but I love the look though.
I relate to this. I like the idea of a NATO more than actually wearing one. But they do look good. Keep the pics rolling in!

It isn't the strap per se, but the grit and grime that gets between the watch and strap that act as sandpaper.
Along the same lines then is the same grit and grime causes rust and wear on a metal strap as well. Most NATO strap mfg's recommend washing said strap once a week with mild soap, which if followed will more than likely eliminate the problem. I personally rotate my straps every few days and rinse them whenever I've been to the gym, golf course, or got laid...
