    Good day

I was searching on line to find out more about my watches and found this form if anyone could help me i would deeply appreciate it. I'm new to the watch collector game and bought some omegas that i believe is real. sorry if the quality of the images is bad.

    IMG-20181129-WA0010.jpg IMG-20181129-WA0009.jpg IMG-20181129-WA0008.jpg IMG-20181129-WA0007.jpg IMG-20181129-WA0006.jpg IMG-20181129-WA0004.jpg

I did get scammed once thinking i could by a bargain site unseen except for a few bad quality photos

but that hasn't deterred me to keep buying watches i have 4 more in site these are the only photos that the sellers had I would like to know if they are good buys or not.

    Hi Stefan,
if you find somebody who could carefully open the caseback of your watches, there you would find a Reference Number. With this Reference Number you could make a Google search, or search this Forum. There is a lot of information out there.

Whether a watch is a good buy or not is often subjective, it depends on the price you pay.
Many of these watches seem to be heavily polished, so are probably not considered a collectors grade examples. Again, it depends on the price.

I must say, i really like the Seamaster Cosmic (with crosshair dail) you showed there, but its a gold plated watch, so not everyones cup of tea. And i guess one would have to see some better pics to get a better impression.

    Welcome to the forum!

thank you very much I appreciate the fast reply.

I live in South Africa so the omega watches go for way cheaper than listings on chrono24 so the watches compared to other countries are on the cheaper side and i don't really care about the value of the watches it more of a can i wear them daily without doing heavy damage mechanically.

There is probably hardly any country in the World, that has higher prices than on chrono24 :D
If you enjoy the watches, thats all that counts! Sometimes its even easier to enjoy a watch that you know you can bash around ;) if the case is overpolished, then you dont need to worry about scratches, or one can allways enjoy the dial! :)

i only know a little abut the two watches from what the previous owners told me. The automatic came from London it was his brothers and he believed that it was a 1950 ish watch last serviced in 1970 but it works perfectly and keep time like no ones business.

and the Geneve i have is said to be 1970's but thats about all i know.

I will try this weekend to find someone to open it for me and post the photos

    Hi Stefan,

what I have learned here is that it is important to get informations about a watch before buying it.

Before I would buy the next watch I would try to inform yourself about the ones I already own.

    Stick around here!

Unfortunately, your Omega Speedmaster is a well known fake. The others look OK from a distance.

    An identification guide is here.

yes after some research i found out that it uses a seagull ST-19 movement and that they are really popular for people who don't car if they have a replica but unfortunately i do so it just sits in the cupboard so it was a very expensive lesson.

thank you i will give that a read

And hence the importance of researching before you buy. Don’t worry, there have been plenty worse mistakes made on legitimate watches. Welcome aboard.

If you are happy with the movement, http://www.iterumwatch.com/ can turn it into a real watch for you. I haven’t tried them, but when life gives you lemons all that...
