Hello, i recently purchased an Omega Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Edition from the AD. I got a call that one came in and that the people in front of me on the waitlist could not come and pick up so i decided i would go and buy it. After i arrived , i was told the case the watch was supposed to come with did not arrive yet. I was told it was being shipped seperately so they gave me an original omega watch box to take it home in. Has anyone every heard of this happening so someone? I just want to make sure im receiving the original box its supposed to come with. Thanks in advance

Strange, should be full set.
Would the AD lie about the other box being shipped seperately?

I believe I remember someone else having a similar issue... I think they kept hold of both.

Edit: Just enquire as to when they expect your set to arrive 👍

Watches and boxes are shipped seperate as the watch attracts duty and is held in a Bond until paperwork clears it.

The boxes can be sent to store directly.

Has been done this way for years as watches shipped in boxes would take up heaps of room in customs bond.

Also watches usually travel by air and boxes by sea.

😉 insider knowledge.

Might it have something to do with the current fashion of “flipping” new watches? In the after market, boxed sets are worth more than a watch without the accessories.

Watches get shipped like this and meet their boxes at the destination.

One needs a expensive freight service and to be bonded the other doesn’t.

They both leave the same factory.

It's happened before with the Apollo 11...watches arrived before the boxes. OP will be fine....just check that when you do get the box everything is included, should be no problem but just make sure everything is there. There are enough pics around to let you know what the full set looks like. I assume you have the three cards for the watch.....Warranty, Pictogram and METAS certification since they are shipped with the coffin that contains the watch (hang tag as well). The cards are the key items that you must have. Hang tag and coffin are nice-to-haves but sometimes they go astray at the dealer.

Great to hear a Rolex guy love an Omega watch. Both brands can co-exist in a collection without the "us and them mentality".
