This probably is of little interest to the hard-core Longines collector, but since I'm on a "budget" (after acquiring my "grail" last year), I've been cruising the high quality-to-low-price pieces. Found this:
It has a reference number (that I can't recall), but I have christened this the "markers with a gazillion facets" model, or "MWAGF" for silly...er...short.
Has the caliber 342 movement (I'm a big fan, or a sucker depending on how you view these). It makes a wonderful "whir" when the rotor spins on its track.
Cool lugs are wide at 19mm on a 34mm head. Still trying to keep my "scale" of sizes in check. If I start to dislike these as "too small," then I will be very much more limited in my choice (and budget!) of vintage examples.
So for those who appreciate the simple three-handers, enjoy!
PS: I would LOVE for this thread to evolve into a "here's my caliber 34x/35x Longines" thread! Maybe I better search first...there may already be one?

P.P.S.: I counted 128 facets on all the markers, not including the surface attached to the dial (which, I suppose, adds 12 more?)
    :)

I'm certainly not the end all in Longines expertise but I believe this may be a redial.:(

It is. The fonts are off and the lettering is mis-spaced. The lugs look nice though, and those hour indices are very cool. Got them on my Summit caliber 19AS, which changed to the 34x series in late 1959-ish.

The 34x series is an interesting group of movements, and I agree that the sound of the rotor spinning on it's toothed track is pretty cool. It needs to be pretty silent to hear it though.

I thought the signature looked off. Thank you gents for confirming the redial.
I know the guy I bought it from, and I sent it back for a refund. No harm done in the end.
I'm hoping to have another example to share soon!
In the meantime, fueling my fever with photos of your automatic caliber 34x/35x-powered Longines is strongly encouraged!

oh my goodness that is so COOL!!!

I usually don't go in for "busy" dials but that is really neat!

Stunning pair of GPs! What's the movement within?

GP is Grand Prize? All these years I thought GP was Girard Perregaux! ;)
I like the new (to me) GP acronym.

Okay, I think I did well on this one in terms of condition and originality. Dial and lugs are not as interesting but it still has great style. This one was serviced, and sounds solid (no rattle). Just the sweet sound of a rotor on a track.

Now my dilemma is to decide whether or not it wears too small on my 7.5" wrist. Been wearing too many 42mm watches!

Remember that the first part of "wristwatch" is "wrist". ;)

A great size for a wrist in my view. I like the look of that Longines with real numerals for markers.

I added another Grand Prize to the collection. This one is a little bigger at 34+mm. It has white metal applied name and winged hourglass logo. The "sunburst" pattern emanates from the date window at 6.
It has a caliber 341 movement.

(Is it odd that two bridges are signed 341 and 17 jewels?)

I definitely prefer this size to the prior. I even like the date at 6. So I'm not sure if I'll keep the non-date version. Well, I'll probably hold on to it (since it was serviced by the previous owner in February) while I get the "new" one serviced.

    Thanks!
I have another I snagged with a date at 12, but it's not as pretty, it's smaller, and (gulp) the dial feet are in the movement and not on the dial :(
