Hello, and thanks for allowing me to join.
If it’s not too much trouble, may I call upon the collective experience gathered here? Hopefully this is the right place to post, if not please let me know and I’ll remove it.

Looking to get a Speedmaster for an upcoming milestone birthday, and I have to admit it’s been great learning about the extensive history of the watch.

I’ve got a chance to get my hands on one, but in one of the pictures the seller kindly sent through, I detected a small anomaly on the minute dial. It appears as a small dent on the edge between 15-20 on the picture attached.

Is this an issue? Does it suggest the watch has been mistreated previously? Would it affect the value? My research suggests the dial condition is critical to the overall value of the watch? The watch is selling for around £3k.

Any help or comments much appreciated.

Apologies, hopefully it shows up better in this one?

First of all we need to see the overall watch/reference and SN. Looks like it might have been serviced by a ham handed watchmaker. Personally if you are already obsessing on that chip, it wouldn’t get better for you. Plenty of fish in the sea. Move on.

For others who may be confused, the dent is on the edge of the running seconds sub-dial, not the minute sub-dial.

That's a very minor bit of damage that could have happened during a service. If it can't be seen by the naked eye, it will have only a small impact on re-sale value. However, as @Larry S suggested, if it is bothering you, you probably should buy a different watch.

That wouldn’t bother me, but I get it. Wouldn’t think it would effect value much.

Gents, thanks for the input. Sounds like this isn’t really a material flaw, and perhaps my ocd could live with it. The watch is from 94-95 so I accept it’ll have picked up a few nicks along the way, but otherwise it looks good.
