Hello OF,

Been a fan of Omega watches since I was a kid, with the dream of one day owning a vintage straight lug Speedmaster, but didn't really take the dive into learning more about the brand until early last year. My great Uncle, who was very prominent in my life, passed after a pretty prolong battle with cancer and upon helping my family sort through the house he had lived in for nearly 70 years, my mother found a plastic bag full of watches and asked if I wanted them. Having always had a fascination with watches I said "I'd be happy to put them in safe keeping and figure out what he had there, maybe even restore one."

There were a handful of smaller vintage dress watches; Seiko, a Rolex Celini (turned out to be a fake), Defender, a Bulova Accutron, to name a few, but hidden in the contents of the bag were two vintage Omega watches (both serial 10,xxx,xxx).

Definitely a bittersweet moment as I would have rather been able to learn the story of the watches from my Uncle himself but it had me off to the races to learn what I could about his timepieces. And in the process I may have picked up a few vintage pieces myself 馃槈.

Been lurking on here for the last year or so but glad to find this forum and to recently sign up as a member. Looking forward to meeting you all and will post photos as the journey unfolds.

A photo of the Omegas in the state that I inherited them, with a few replacement crowns. On the right is a CK 2414 caliber 28 SC movement and the smaller one on the bottom left is a CK 2300/3 caliber R17.8

Welcome to OF! Nice pieces. I know the feeling, I also wish that had talked to my father more about his watch that I ended up getting after he died.

Welcome and look forward to seeing the rest of your collection. I think we always are left with stories we wish we could know about when loved ones leave us, things always seem to surface after they're gone.

Great that you have those watches for the memories though, the larger Omega is lovely.

Welcome, great pair of Omegas you inherited. I think many of us would also like to see your Accutron. They were fascinating watches with quite the following.

Definitely agree but it's also the stories we do know and were there for that give us some comfort. And since you mentioned it, here is my collection as of today:
Clockwise from left - Seiko 7a38-7289(My dad's watch that he purchased new just before I was born and gave it to me a few years back), Bulova Accutron 2181 TV Case Tuning Fork, Wittnauer 8025, Witnauer 8023-241T, Seiko 7a28-702a (Black Bond), Omega CK 2414 and an Omega Chronostop 145.010 (Drivers Version).

Thank you for the compliment regarding the larger omega from my first post. I recently had it restored, keeping as much original as possible then using omega replacement parts for the components that needed replacing. I also received the Extract from the Archives for it, which I was very happy to find out that Omega still had the records for his watch and now I know a little bit more about my Uncles watch. Here's a photo of it in it's restored condition along with the extract.

Happy to share a photo of the Accutron. From what I have been able to find i believe it is a Bulova Accutron 2181 TV Case Tuning Fork but if anyone knows differently please let me know.
