Hello gents. I've frequented the forum here on and off for a couple of years. Thought I'd finally sign up. I've typically been a vintage Rolex collector. But have always appreciated Speedys. Just acquired a new addition and it's something I've wanted for awhile. Given the price increases in the past few years, it's something I should have done long ago. Regardless, no regrets. I love my new 2998-6. The 7912 bracelet is reasonably tight as well. Just debating if I should get the movement serviced as it's history is unknown (which basically means it's been 10+ years).
Hell yes, get it serviced. DO NOT send to Omega for service. Depending on your location, someone here can recommend someone or you can do a site search.
It's kind of hard to take your service question serious. I'd say: get it serviced or donate it ( I know someone who would take the burden of this unservied watch so I could help! ) ..before you kill it PS: and NEVER take it to Omega for Service. Never. Never. Before that: donate (you know, I can help with that)
Lol. Thx guys. Yes of course I would never take it to Swatch Group here in Toronto. I will get it properly serviced, but since I just got it, I will enjoy it for a few days before dropping it off at the spa.
Since you are in TO, touch base with @Archer He can help you with service. As you will most likely see, everyone will recommend him, and for good reason too. Great looking watch btw
Thank you Archer is not taking any more work right now, but he has recommended to me to use Ashton Tracy. Www.atracywatches.com If anyone has had experience with him good or bad, please let me know
You sure? I would have thought that he would have had the movement serviced as needed before posting it up for sale.
Service every 5 years is the typical recommendation for mechanical watches, whether Omega or other brands. Pressure checking more often on water resistant models.
Take this issue into your own hands...buy this bad boy from Amazon: Readaeer® 144 Pcs Portable Watchmaker Watch Repair Tools Kit Set Back Case Opener Adjuster Remover https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0191BHFYM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0sXByb77XNJQ9 Only $16.99 for 144 Pieces!! Then go to YouTube and search "How to service watch" ... Problem solved
For sure, definitely get it serviced if you plan on wearing it often. Since it's service history is unknown, best bet is to have a watchmarker specializing in omega/321s to look at it for a proper assessment. Did this happen to be from a former member here? Company's name that starts with an "L". I would tend to trust Archer with his recommendations. Beautiful piece!
I could be wrong here, but when it comes to quality of that one, compared to ebay ones, I dont think there is any difference really. For example, same thing, just cheaper: http://www.ebay.com/itm/144Pcs-Watc...-Case-Opener-Spring-Bar-Remover-/142055939597Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
