Hello everyone!
As they say on the radio, "long time listener, first time caller", thus, after having learnt a lot from the OF, I am here introducing myself and my small watch collection.

I've always been fascinated by old mechanism so watches are a great attraction for me.

After some minor old chronos and mechanical watches my first real watch is a Seamaster ref. 166.009 on BoR which is currently being serviced. Then last year I've added the new Speedmaster 3861 and finally this summer I've succumbed to the charm of the Constellations with integrated bracelet (ref. 168.045 with cal.751 and ref.168.0054 with the cal. 1021).

I'm also planning on getting a Submariner as a daily beater but that's another story...

Thanks for the introduction and welcome to OF. I like the 166.009, very attractive reference. What kind of Sub will you be looking for?

Classic 16610 with black bezel and dial... something more versatile and somehow subtle.

Thanks for all the replies!

Personally, I prefer the no-date Subs, but that's a good model, no doubt.

If you don't need bright active lume, I'd consider a 1990s model with tritium lume and lug-holes. If you can find one where the lume has yellowed a bit, so much the better. They have dropped in price currently, but they were starting to rise in price before last year's tumble, and I believe that a decade from now, they will be collectible.

Unfortunately I am a bit lost with Rolex since here in Italy everyone seems to have one while most of them are fake… no one makes a fake constellation 166.045 since there is no market, but as you all know better than me, most of Rolex out here are “friendly and cheaper wanna be”…

Thus through my Omega AD which is a close friend of mine I am in the process of obtaining through a Rolex AD a used sub… I know I am definitely going to pay more than Chrono24 but I’ll sleep better… End of the month I’ll see the one he’s going to have traded in for something else. I’ve asked for a standard one with date since I cannot remember what day it is even though I write it almost a hundred times per day!

Fingers crossed!

A good 16610 should be about $9k USD at the moment. They are very easy to find.

That’s his price, with box and papers…
I was also hoping for a GMT but I think might be a bit out of budget…
