    Hi everyone,

Matt here with my speedy collection. Actually quite new to me collection in fact! Picked up my first Omega ever earlier this month (FIOS), then soon after the reduced and MK40 fell in my lap per-se. I’ve always been fascinated with the moon watch and really loved the vintage feel. Not 100% sold on the strap though. May get a 1125 bracelet down the road.

Sold my Rolex Milguass late last year and had been itching for a Speedy since. It was too fancy for me, as I was always worried I’d beat it up due to the high polish.

Not sure I’ll be keeping the reduced terribly long, but for now the 3 “small” speedys kind of compliment each other.

Having a hard time choosing the FIOS or the MK40 daily wearer. I think I’ll re-strap the MK40 and run it a week. What do you all think?

Looking forward to the discussion and more beautiful time pieces!

    Thanks,
    Matt

And so the enabling begins! ::stirthepot:: I love the FOIS, and having a few straps handy can really change the look of a watch! And they’re cheaper than buying more watches ;)

Absolutely! Need to get over my fear of scratching the lugs and I’ll be solid. Been practicing on my poor ol seiko pilot. Just put a nice green canvas band on for a change of pace.

    Thanks everyone for the welcome!

I like using scotch tape to protect the steel whilst changing straps.

Since I don't have any service history on the reduced, or MK40 (FIOS is under warranty), do you recommend a full service? I have a Rolex AD 5 min from the house and was debating having them quote a service. The Omega Boutique is about 45min away...

    Thanks!

You'll want to read one of the many threads on the thoughts of getting a reduced serviced.

Sounds like the assumption in most of the posts I read are the reduced tend to be beat up and parts can be hard to find.

Mine is running great atm. Just thinking of doing a precariousinary service to both.

Omega = Omega service. Rolex = Rolex Service Center. Obey this rule and you are less likely to be disappointed.

Based on my understanding of the Speedy reduced, many watchmakers won't even touch them and typically the movements and sent away and completely swapped out, but the 100 threads on the subject here will talk about that in a more educated way.

Going to leave it be. If it stops running, then I'll figured out what to do :).

I just found out about that Hodinkee edition of the MK40 this week. Apparently it sold out same day...
