Hello all, new to this forum but been involved in the forum world for years. Just got my second Omega. A 2210.51 Planet Ocean Chrono. Other is a 2254.50 I've had for a decade or so. Been a watch guy since I tore my first gumby watch apart to see how it worked. Been hooked ever since. Look forward to learning everything I can about this amazing watch company.

I think I probably had that same gumby watch, the one where gumby's body wrapped around your whole wrist almost?

Hahaa, no... my gumby watch (which I still have) was a small 32mm manual wind up. And yes, I am a cyclist. I ride a Colnago C 50, and have raced Colnago's for years... which is how I picked up the screen name..

    We've got the same passions,
For myself it's Colnago master on one side and many vintage Omega on the other.;)
    Welcome again :)

I started with a master piu, conic 94, then master light, and still ride the c50. So happy with the c50 that I wont go to the c59 yet. Now back to Omega's.... had a rolex seadweller and my seamaster kept +- 0 since day one. The rolex was +6 daily, barely good enough to be certified, and to the repair shop twice. The omega only maintainence. Why I bought the planet ocean chrono. Love the bigger size too uploadfromtaptalk1377010939236.jpg

That's what I love about Omega my 69 speedmaster has only been serviced once in its life, 26 years ago!
+2 sec per day and 40 ours reserve, so useless to service (even an omega dealer told me so...)
And so much diversity in shape colours, ...on the other hand I won't be against having a 5513.
But in France it's a social No-No to have a rolex, since a politician told on TV, that If you don't have a rolex before 50, you failed your life!
So better off with JLC, unknown to 99%.

They're hoping for the BIG bucks when you send your watch in with broken pallet jewels, axels that have groves worn into them, and teeth on the wheels that look like they're out of a hockey player's mouth.

As a scientist , I totally agree that my watch would suffer from wears over the years but my experience with "well-known specialist" in paris was not good.
From a geneve with a 1002 caliber (same as the ploprof) that was 50 sec late per week, went to service, cost me a lot,and never work properly again, and they never wanted to service it again...

So the first time I detect that the speedy has not the same behaviour, I will send it to Bienne directly.
And I save money, in that perspective.

No disrespect to any of your point of view,

You were given bad advice by your Omega dealer mate. The fact that it only runs 40 hours should tell you something.

    Cheers, Al

Thanks for pointing that out - it should be 50 or more hours of reserve.

Come back all you want - still very bad advice from your dealer. 26 years on and I can pretty much guarantee the oils are completely dry in the watch mate....

You can believe what you want, but letting it run dry is not good for the watch.

    Cheers, Al

I'd be listening to Archer here man, what that AD is saying is kind of like "Your car is very reliable so you don't need oil in the engine" that guy is an idiot.

you convinced me, once I've got some cash (France taxes are tough these days, I paid the price of one 321 this year!)
I've got the correct stepped dial, needs some correct hands and it will go to Swiss!
