Hi Folks, following on from my dad owning an Omega, I bought myself one some years ago ( Seamaster Quartz ) Ive since inherited my dads watches, one of which i know a bit about, ( the last one in pics) the other 2 I know very little.

Stumbled on this excellent forum so thought you guys might help ;-)

Any info on the following appreciated, , ultimately I would like to get a Planet Ocean Orange Bezel Omega.

The first 2 don't seem to be working, I haven't removed the back off any yet.

    Lovely collection!

The first one is a fifties Seamaster (duh), looks like a ref 2577. The second is a late sixties/early seventies Genève, probably a ref. 135.041 or something like that :)

For value, search sold auctions on eBay. Adjust for condition, etc.

The first could be a mid to late 1950s full rotor 2846. Does it have a snap on back or screw on? It looks exactly like my 2846.

    Nice watch.

Ok...so the first one has snap on back, when you move the watch it feels like something is serious moving inside, like somethings loose...or is this normal for this type?
The 2nd one has a screw on back I guess as it has notched I assume to grip it and twist.

Should I remove the backs for more info ?

First one is likely a 2846 Seamaster then, using either the 500 or 501 movement (500 is US market, 501 is ROW). What you can feel is likely just the rotor spinning but I guess it could also be loose on the bearing. We are reluctant to talk figures with new members here but as a rough guide, the first Seamaster is worth roughly double that of the second watch, the Geneve, which looks to be a manual wind model and crops up often on Ebay.

My 2846, seems to have the same dial:

Only if you know what you are doing. Do not do something that might damage the watch. Seek professional help. A watchmaker would good, a professional at an Omega AD or Boutique might be best. Just don't let them talk you into any work without checking here first.

A very nice start collection!! Lovely Seamaster dial, I hope you will find a nice Planet Ocean Orange soon, it's an amazing piece and you can add a bit of "youngness" to your Omega collection :)

Ok I get that, no problem thanks.

At the moment the Geneve doesnt work and if its a manual wind, that doesnt seem to work either, is it worth getting repaired?

Does the forums link to any recommended repair guys ?

    Thanks for all the info.

If it's a snap back with "something loose" inside, it is more likely to be a 2767.

Yes we have had this before I seem to recsll , there is indeed a snap back bumper but it could be either. The SM Text on the OP watch does look darker so there are slight differences.

Looking at the profile, and specifically the caseback profile, I'm going with 2767 ;)

Fair enough, I think you were right last time we had a similar one to ponder. That said whichever it is doesn't make much difference to the value.

The last time I discussed a Seamaster with another enthusiast, I got him convinced it was a 2767 he had... Turned out it was a 2846 :D

As you say, not much in it - only some fun detective work.

I enjoy seeing posts like this. New members with fathers or grandfathers watches. Were you thinking to keep some?

Well I was looking to maybe sell the first 2 as they were just watches my dad owned but never uses as far as I know.

The larger Geneve I’ll probably keep as it was his everyday watch, I have the reciept and he got it in Dec 1976, I assume new.

As I said in my post, I also have a Seamaster quartz for myself, which I bought new some 20years ago for about £775 from Mapin and Webb in Birmingham.
