I like it! But honestly how could you not like a blue dial watch?

At that price point, wow, that wont work for me. For that kind of money I would rather buy more speedmasters. :)

Now you know why I only buy vintage pieces. I'm sure there have been improvements in metallurgy and mechanics over the years, but at a price.

I'd rather pay <10% of the new watch price for an older piece with character and few bucks extra to fix it up.

I think that would be the general consensus here on this message board. I have two very nice and mint JLC watches. For what I paid for those I could buy 7-12 more vintage JLC watches in mint condition when compared to this new release. JLC has a very wide range in the 60s-70s and almost all of them are so very cool.

Well, at least they didn't screw it up completely by giving it a needlessly large case. 40mm is a pretty wearable size for most, I guess.

Did you see how thick it is? I guess it was a rock and a hard place design wise. 42mm as the article suggested would have been worse.

I like the dial, the caseback, and the crowns but it is a couple mm too thick. For that money, I'd be going after something from the 39-ish mm GO Pano Series.

I like it, but will wait to buy it at less than half the price second hand in a year or two.

I thought I would do a little boutique browsing today. Mainly to see if the Zenith CP-2 LE was available. (It was, comments elsewhere.) I just missed the Omega Museum pieces. ALS 1815 looks just as lovely as always.

I thought the Memovox looked sharper in person than I expected. Size good. Thickness not a huge problem on the wrist. At the price I'm not interested, but I enjoyed seeing it and had a nice conversation with a couple of gents in the boutique.

    Cheers

I saw it in the NYC JLC boutique. It is a great look. The blue shade is very modern. I think it will do well.

I did not yet see the watch in real life.

I love the blue tones of the dial, of course. However, in my eyes the stepped case around the crystal is a bit too thick (it's not the bezel alone). Furthermore, the hands are too thin for the bold case design and the massive indices.

But I may be biased towards the vintage models ;)

I love this watch. The price is par for the course with a new JLC. It's haunting me. ::love::

I prefer JLC's MUC line better. At that price point, their deadbeat movement is also a good contender

I have the beater version of your watch, out for servicing. Still deciding what to do with the dial, but at wrist length the gold-on-blue looks like a starfield which I think is very charming:

I would not change the dial. I'm pretty sure that the alarm disc cannot be cleaned totally, hazarding its blue color.

But there are other components which could improve the look of your watch. The hour and minute hands would benefit from a polish. Should they lose their lume during this procedure, the new lume could match the yellow freckles (the hands on my watch have this greenish lume, too). In my eyes, the white seconds hand stands out too much against the face. A polished steel needle as on my watch would look better.

    Good luck!

Idk about polishing, but Al through mine through a cleaner when I had it serviced.... here's some before and after pics.... I can't find a pic that shows how bad they actually looked originally though....

So maybe if you want to remove the lume this could be an option?

However I agree, don't touch the dial, it has its own unique Jackson Pollock flavor to it.
