Just in an early chrono(?). To be honest I did not have the time to look up the movement in Sala yet and I have no idea how to operate the chronofunction so I don't know whether it is really is a chrono :). Some specs: 18k case, 38mm case with 20mm lugs and 502xxx serial so should be 1930. Similar case and dial (so with the knotted rope) in Sala but that one has an additional pusher. Remarkable is that the plexi can be opened as well. So far it runs well but I will visit my watchmaker tomorrow.

Looks cool! I know nothing at all about these but do you think it originally had a kind of onion crown with a start/stop/reset button built in?

Interesting theory. That would explain something :)

Sorry to be the bearer iof unfortunate news. Comment ammended ... see below. My opinion remains that this is a put together watch. Apologies for my prior hasty response.

Why a franken watch? Could it just be missing the correct pusher?
(I guess the case looks 1930s-1940s while the dial looks perhaps earlier period? the question is whether there might be a transitional period in the 1930s with early enamel dials yet newer case models?)

Ok cracked open the Bible. It appears that the movement is from a watch with the pusher at 6:00 position. case should have wire lugs or hinged lugs.

Case and dial are definitely 1930.

Unless I'm not seeing correctly you have no pusher at 2:00. Your movement is as I described. Stop start is at 6:00.

Can you return it? You have an open and shut case here. Someone took a 6:00 position mono pusher movement and a dial and shoved it into a later case. My guess is that the original case was sold for gold value. It's too bad because teens and 20's watches are retro cool imo.

Is there a pusher hole in the case at 6:00?

If there is, I'm wondering if @Syrte might be on to something

I don't think so. But: gold so easy to plug. However I assume that it might be visible from the inside. We'll know more tomorrow

I'm now wondering if there was an oval pusher in the case at 6:00. If there was ... all might not be lost. You may be facing a big restoration bill.

I haven't looked at the movement in detail, but could there be similar looking movement with different pusher locations?

Don't think so. The picture I found in Sala is the same configuration.
