Just watched it. I should have known this was coming with the focus on the Seamaster 300 in the latest Hodinkee magazine. Always love these reference points videos. I think my favorites are the original 2913 and the Trilogy edition.

They call it the 164.024 throughout, including in the video. Seems like a pretty big error. Like calling the classic sub a 5514

I can’t speak to the previous generations, but I’ve been very pleased with my 300 Heritage. The only modern Omega in my collection, but with a decidedly vintage vibe.

I feel like Hodinkee missed a clear link from the SM300 to the 2254 and then planet ocean. The design language is pretty consistent through these models even though they have different names.

Good to have a video, but some mistakes as you guys pointed out. Not just the 164.024 reference mistake, also the SM300 and 105.012 both were introduced in 1963 WITH lyre lugs. Really sloppy homework for such a big video. Oh and they missed this version:

any hidden logic behind? I don't believe they make such careless mistakes.

At 13:27, there's a "circle T" military watch with what looks like a chocolate dial -and- a blue bezel insert. The video hosts attribute it to the British military.

Question 1: were these watches known to turn tropical (or am I seeing things)? I've looked at a lot of these, and always wondered why there weren't more (any?) examples of tropical dials, given the time period produced.
Question 2: Were the blue bezels exclusive to Canada, or were they more widely released?

Why they did not invite some expert? 😀 But it was a nice collection of watches in geat condition, was nice to see it on one table.
