Such a shame Omega persist with this size of case. It's far too big for those of us with smaller wrists.

yes... I had no Idea Neil Armstrong's foot was that big!

This is a stunner, almost under-priced... but I'm holding out for the sedna....

Dear @Superdoc

Neil Amstrong did say ...

" That's One Small Step for (a) Man
One Giant Footprint for Omega......."

Right..???

How would you imagine all the info the dial is giving is possible with a smaller diameter? Speedy without tachymeter scale? [emoji848]

Beautiful watch, in black it would be perfection...

Erm, other manufacturers manage it....and if I recall, the CoAxial movement is smaller than the 44.5mm case they put it in.

I love the design but too dammed big and I'm not a small guy. PS: What do you folks think of the moon phase on the
speedy. Is it gilding the Lilly? Sacrilege? This model has been sitting at a local dealer for a while.

The Dark Side is the same size and shrinks on the wrist - I'm reserving judgment on this one until it's in the Boutique and I can try it on. In photos it looks quite nice so I'll definitely be visiting!

This version is still available...I actually think it looks pretty good and is excellent bang for buck.

If I am not able to pull-off the new 44.5mm Basel 2016 moonphase blue (gorgeous sunray dial, the footprint is very cool & ticks off loads of technical boxes: column wheel, anti-magnetic etc.), I might actually purchase this version instead.

That's not 'one small step'! Eek!

Yes, I estimate it to be about 200km wide by 375km long. What shoe size would be that in European?

I agree that in black it would indeed look outstanding, but I think Omega wanted a specific colour to mark the METAS/master co-axial chronograph achievement and perhaps did not want to steal thunder from the current DSOTM black variants. I am pretty sure that a few punters would consider a black version of this new Basel 2016 as an alternative to the DSOTM and possibly cannibalize sales, especially considering that it is being offered at the US$10K price point, below the DOSTM price range.

You are essentially trading ceramic technology in the DSOTM for a very cool moonphase complication + Metas certification and still have US$2K in cash. If they do launch a new DSOTM range in Basel 2016 with Metas certification, the comparison becomes tighter, but I would still do that trade.

I think given how coveted the Gemini IV LE is, another blue Speedmaster is a great idea (very very handsome) and might indicate that someone at Omega is paying attention.... 😉

Personally, I would nominate this as Omega's Busy-ness watch of the year. Way too much going on for my taste. And I'd definitely prefer a white or yellow gold disc for the Moon, rather than a cheesey Photoshop job. (even if the Moon is made of cheese)
