New Guy Here, But Wise Beyond My Years...

I didn't see an introduction thread, so I figured I would post here. Would a mod please move to some place more appropriate, if needed? You may also want to grab a cup of coffee, to get through all of this...

I guess I should change my name to Moses. I've been doing this horology thing for a few decades now. This certainly is not my 1st rodeo, as I am a member of many other forums where I have thousands of posts. You will probably recognize me and some of my watches.

Some of my other interests are in fishing/fly fishing, where I collect antique items from, old wooden fishing lures to rods, reels, creels, etc. I have a huge fly fishing library filled with books from the 1600's to the present. I also collect firearms, knives and in general, anything that catches my attention, even have a large collection of signed baseballs and baseball cards from the 1950's to the mid 80's. I just like old things... kinda like myself, I guess.

I have many watches with the majority of them being vintage, but I have been known to pick up a few modern along the way, as well. I originally didn't see the allure of diving watches until one day, I woke up and it was like someone threw a light switch on in my brain. Now I love these as well and have several, including a few micro brands (aren't they fun?).

By now (if I haven't lost you) you are probably wondering why I have decide to join this wonderful forum and you knowledgeable members? Well, I saw a watch released at Basal this year and as soon as I laid eyes on it... I knew I had to have it! No one on here has ever done this, right? It was going to be quite expensive (for me at least) and I figured I would never be able to pick it up! Then a very strange thing happened and all of the stars and planets (moons) aligned and I was able to pick up my dream watch while on a very special vacation.

Enough of all my BS and the reason for signing up and all of my excitement, lost sleep, daydreaming, etc. over the last year!...

I opted to have the blue leather replaced with the ss bracelet. I put the blue leather away for safe keeping and will probably have a custom made, down the road.

Sorry for the long introduction but I just can't contain myself or my enthusiasm for this fine timepiece.

I appreciate you sticking with me and please have a wonderful day... I know I will.

Best Regards,
Robert

Welcome to the Forum, Robert! What a great introductory post!

The fact that this isn't your 1st rodeo speaks volumes about your latest watch. I think it's really cool that this particular Speedmaster is the one that grabbed your attention above all other possibilities. It looks like Omega knew what they were doing 馃榾

Hi Robert! What a cool watch, and thanks for the intro.

While I'm not much of an angler, have you ever tried or know much about a style of fly fishing called tenkara? It is an old Japanese way of fly fishing without a reel. A very dear friend of mine introduced me to the technique and it's the most fun I've had while fishing.

Welcome Robert! Congratulations! That SS blue moonphase piece is stunning and just beautiful on the SS bracelet. I tried it on recently at an OB with the blue leather strap...gorgeous watch...could not stop looking at the dial.

Well in my collection there was a slot left open to decide between the Omega "Blue Moon" or the GMT 2 BLNR, I waited and waited to see the Omega live throughout 2016. Then my local Rolex AD gave me a fair price on the BLNR in November...and Omega lost out.

Time to market, time to market Omega...get your Metas certification sorted out.
