New FOIS clasp - fit the EW321?

I can’t find any pics of the outside of the new flat link clasp for the FOIS that was just announced. Wondering if it is similar to the EW321 clasp and could be swapped to add the comfort extension? That is my only gripe about the EW321 (lacking the comfort extension)…. The new FOIS looks awesome!

I'm asking the same when I saw the picture of the new clasp.

The classic Omega clasps are nicely proportioned, the new ones with the 'comfort setting' adjustment not so much, imo.

Had the same thought when I compared the FOIS bracelet to the 321 bracelet. I sent out my question to the Omega boutique before I read this thread. Well, at least we can be sure about the "no" if it get the same answer ;-)

OB's will almost never let you know if parts from two different watches are compatible.

I’d have to think they are compatible - maybe just a different link required?

What aspect of the bracelets are not compatible?
Probably missing the connecting link which is similar to how the separate available clasp of the '57 flatlink looked:

Probably?

Even if so, those connecting links can usually be ordered separately. Assuming it would be necessary.

I have no conclusive proof the new FOIS clasp can be swapped onto the Ed White bracelet, but I don't yet have proof it cannot be done.

I welcome you to order the clasp and try irl since you choose not to believe the answer given by Omega to someone on a local watch forum whom asked them this question.

Omega virtually never confirms cross compatibility of parts from different models. That's why we end up with threads on OF and WUS with people measuring parts and experimenting to see what bracelet can be swapped onto this or that watch.

I'm writing this with a 2220.80 SMP on my wrist with a bracelet from a first gen Aqua Terra and a clasp from the current gen Heritage 300. If I asked Omega if this bracelet and clasp could be used on a 2220.80 I can all but guarantee you they would say no. They have no interest in people modding their watches. And I don't blame them for that.

I'm not saying the parts will fit. I'd like more information though. And Omega's statement about a lack of compatibility doesn't move the needle much in my mind.

Last I heard, the connecting link cannot be ordered separately from the bracelet itself per omega. That may have changed though.

I would definitely like to see pics of your SMP mod…

Its pretty common knowledge that sales people working at the boutiques know fυck all.

https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/adjustable-clasp-conversion-compilation.5396509/page-2

See post #26 for details.

This is how I most often wear my SMP. I'm not a fan of the non-tapering Bond bracelet. I'm glad I have it, and wear it occasionally as a change of pace, but I prefer the 20-17 taper of the AT bracelet. And with the quick adjust Heritage 300 clasp, I can micro adjust it with the push of a button.

I have an array of bracelet for my SMP's: the Speedy/Peter Blake bracelet, Apollo 11 50th Anniversary bracelet (with Forstner end links), OEM Stainless Steel mesh, and a host of Forstner and Uncle Straps bracelets (1450, 1171, jubilee, bullet/Speedy style, beads of rice).

I just got a call from the Omega boutique. They ordered the FOIS clasp to test if it can be used as a direct replacement for the clasp of the 321 bracelet. The answer is "no".

I asked if one could add a FOIS link to each end of the FOIS clasp and then fit the clasp + links to the 321 bracelet links after removing the clasp with its adjacent links from the 321 bracelet. But the boutique did not really want to go this way: too much "bricolage" ;-)

Thanks to this crucial piece of information, I've purchased a complete FOIS 2024 bracelet (reference number is 020Z019159 in case anyone else is interested) and tried some fittings on my 321 EW, here are the results:

1. The FOIS clasp indeed won't fit the 321 bracelet, due to different width of the swing arms on the 321 bracelet. As shown in the pictures below, the gap between the swing arms of 321 bracelet is too narrow to accommodate the width of the push button in the FOIS clasp. The clasp simply won't close in this combination. It seems to me that OMEGA is trying to differentiate their product offerings by limiting certain functions to specific models.

2. The good news is the FOIS bracelet will fit 321 EW with zero issues. No need to change springbars, swap endlinks or make any other adjustments. The photos below show great endlink fit for both OEM 321 bracelet and FOIS bracelet. This is probably well expected by many and since the FOIS swing arms assembly is not sold separately, purchasing a full FOIS bracelet is the only way for 321 EW to have on-the-fly adjustability.

Fantastic work here. Your effort and expense to sort this out are much appreciated.

I’m not familiar with the FOIS bracelet. Do they look similar side by side in other respects?
