    Hello everyone,

So a little bit about myself:

I am turning 18 soon and am looking at Omega vintage watches.

I have really fallen in love with the Seamaster DeVille and I have very small wrists so the watch should fit me perfectly. The bottom line is my budget is under $1,000 and I don't want to get ripped off. I see some pretty nice deals on eBay but I question the authenticity of these watches. Is there a website that I should be going to? Is there something specific I should be looking for?

Also, I really prefer having the date on the watch as well.

Please help and thank you in advance,
    Lbsbigbro22

    Check the private sales here.
Much better than buying off eBay.
You are shopping with a budget that hits the sweet spot on eBay in the three category Venn diagram - fraud, ignorance and sheer rubbish.
Buy from a forum member who values his reputation, rather than making a profit.
    Good luck

you need to be on here a while before you can buy off a forum member. I nearly half way there.

It has been stated on a few different threads, and in a sticky on the private sales page. Does no one read any more? Although 200 posts are required to actually post or sell a watch there, you can always (regardless of post count) PM a seller.

My advice is to do nothing for at least the next 2-3 months. Look here and on other watch forums at posts on vintage Omegas. Study what is and isn't real. Ask lots of questions and post items you are considering here for comments.

Pretty soon, you'll get comfortable enough to get a good value for your money.

One of my first was an Omega 166.023/168.032 (dual reference) Seamaster with Cal. 751. The 751 is a 'chronometer', but the same watch is available in 750 and 752. Very little difference between the two. Anyway, great vintage omega watch that would fit within your budget.

You could have bought with one post, just PM the seller.
Some here had bought 3 watches by their 10th post.

I am now near 100 posts. I know that the watch I would have bought after 10 post is not what I am going for now. So, I am pleased I got the wrong end of the stick. Maybe I should hold off to 200 posts so my learning curve might have flattened off some what.

Now that's a good reason to implement a buying restriction!

Yeah, by taking time and doing some reasearch you just might end up buying a better, nicer watch for a better price. Altough it can take time.
