I didn't see it posted on OF already (sorry if I missed), but Zaf Basha recently announced the completion of his latest book as a guide for collecting military watches.

It's been in development for years and is extremely well researched, with lots of mil specs and watches (> 600 pages). Pre-orders here: https://www.classicwatch.com/asp/viewer.asp?ref=rxMilBook

Some more details on MWR here: https://www.mwrforum.net/forums/sho...hick-as-a-brick-quot-according-to-Jethro-Tull and on IG here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CtKfGG7rmQm/

I know this forum is mostly Omega but I can't imagine it isn't of interest 馃榾

Any idea how it compares to the set by Conrad Knirim?

Personally I found the Knirim book to be kind of repetitive and it wasn't as easy as I'd have liked when I was looking up info on a watch / evaluating one I was offered. Still a great book and scratched the itch for a while.

Zaf's is I believe more comprehensive in scope since it covers watches from more parts of the world, including Japan (which I believe @Seiji contributed quite a bit, including translating a lot of the kanji markings). I'd also expect it to be more usable as a resource for collectors with the way he typically organizes and presents information (see also his old JLC book). One thing that I'm excited for with the new one is that he dug up a bunch of documents from archives, contracts, specs, etc. and restored them to improve their legibility, and I think a good number of these are new / fairly uncommon to the community.

I can do a more detailed comparison post once mine is in.

Konrad Knirim's two Books on Military watches and clocks have every information, a Mil. Watch Collector will need, already. Zafs Book might be fine for the New World, because Knirim's two Books are heavy because of that mass of Information and shipment is very expensive.
