Thanks everyone, I've been into photography since I was a kid really, just turned 50 so it's some time now!
I post a lot over on Watchuseek too.
Here's a link to a thread with Planet Ocean shots for now and when I get time I'll put them on here too.
There's also a shot of the setup I used to get them so you can see there's nothing fancy going on. Heath Robinson setup.

Hi Chris,
Great shots......馃憤
How about some tips on how to produce photos like above? Some of us will be more than interested to learn.........

Thanks!

Difficult to know how to start that one but these few shots might give some ideas.
Planet Ocean on the rack.
The setup shot gives you some insight into how to do this but the long explanation requires an essay. Short version, off camera flash (on the tub) helsp freeze the action, camera and watch rigged as shown and copious amounts of water and patience. Ober 600 shots taken produce just a few.
Time, patience and experimentation are the keys to this and inventiveness in using what you have to hand. Sweeping brush, bike saddle cover, garden chair, wife's potting tray. 馃榾

The AT was just shot on a table in the conservatory on a black cloth. Playing around with reflectors (A4 sheets of white paper) to bounce light around the dial and then a little work in post processing to bring out the contrasts

Great shots 馃榾

One minor suggestion though: you guys may want to consider hosting your photos on 惟F (just use the camera icon to upload files) instead of relying on Photobucket. Photobucket has a nice habit of completely deleting images or killing the links once they're using too much bandwidth. 惟F has absolutely no storage or transfer limits.

I realize it can be a bit more work when your photos are already uploaded there. It would just be such a shame to see these shot disappearing over time. 馃榾

If for some reason you don't want to host your images on 惟F, something like http://imgur.com is a lot more reliable than Photobucket.

Thanks everyone and Trev, I never spotted the camera icon or I'd have done exactly as you suggest so thanks for that too.
My images are only dropped on Photobucket for the forum anyway and safely backed up here and elsewhere. Have lost things in the past but it won't happen again. 馃榾

Nice pictures Chrisc. Is that a Nikkor 105 Macro lens? I am still in doubts.. a 60mm macro or the 105mm macro..
