    Is there an association with the Munich Olympics with this model, or am I confabulating?

    you are right.
    For the Olympic Games 1972 in Munich Longines created a Special Edition of the one button chronograph with dial and hands, that are different to the normal series model. At the caseback of this Limited Edition the number and dedication to Munich is engraved.
    I can remember the games,because I was a schoolboy at the age of sixteen. It was a wonderful spirit there this summer
    until the terrible massacre of these arabien terrorists...
    Sorry that I can`t send a pic of this watch,because the file is too large!
