Was thrilled to acquire this Speedy Panda (Mitsukoshi Custom) today. With some help & guidance from Hijak and Archer, I confidently met the seller, enjoyed some nice conversation and walked away with this strapped to my wrist after a more than reasonable deal was struck! I sold my conversion last year and had regretted it ever since, so it makes this purchase even sweeter!

This is custom Speedy that was done by Archer last year, and I must say that I am really impressed with every aspect, down to the Cal. 863 and exhibition back. Thanks again for the support, and glad to have this beautiful Panda in the collection especially knowing the provenance! Have a great evening! Jeff

Some black hands would look nice on that one. Very nice, and nice to know that it was actually serviced!

    Congrats!

I had black hands on my original. (Pic below). I'll be honest, I like the silver better. Just a bit more of a vintage look I guess. That being said, its a toss-up and I would not have turned-down one with black. My quick picture above does not do it justice I am afraid.

Here is a picture that does a little better justice to Archers fine work.

Congrats, a great looking watch and even better knowing that Al (Archer) did the original work

I wish I had fitted the silver subdial hands on mine instead of the white but I may change it at some point when I have time to open it up again.

Amazing. I'm planning on "making" one next year and will refer to this.

    Congrats!

This is my 1969 moon watch that I had a Mitsukoshi dial installed.

I am interested in which combination you find the most legible/readable, silver or black hands. The black and white hands are stunning.

If we are looking at legibility alone, then I would say the black hands are going to be the most easily read due to their contrast against the dial. In terms of aesthetic appeal, it's a preference. I like the silver and the overall consistency and appearance. Also, I have no issues reading them. So, if you like the black because of the look, you will also likely find it easy to read as well. Great looking pieces either way, I can add having owned both.
