Received today - In general I am happy with it - the dial is great, and the lume makes me very happy. Case is nice - I like the chamfers. Endlinks are wrong, and bezel font looks like a blue-back, and not a red-back...so disappointed there; will have to spend $$ to get that fixed. I should have asked more questions and seen more pictures. But all that being said, more importantly: what does OF think??
Pretty good looking example from the pics you posted, I wouldn't be 100% reliant on font to determine if it's a redback/blue back. I have a watch recently that for sure everyone though was a blue back with that font till I popped it off and everyone was shocked it ended up being a redback (with the typical snowman circular ovals in 8 etc). So just pop the bezel assembly off real quick for a check. Congrats on a great GMT.
Very nice GMT, looks like an MK4 dial, can't say for certain from the pics....and I agree, looks like a blue back insert. And yes, a very nice case indeed!
That's a Beauty of a case, you need to uncover the Rolex text for a full run-down/up Other than that, wear that beast in good health!!
Looks like a very nice Mk 4 as stated above with a likely 1977 production date with that serial. I would also guess it has a blue backed insert but you'll have to take it off to know for sure. The case and dial look very nice, and does the bracelet have a B or a C code on it? What endlinks does it have, 593 or 501 B? Should be 580 as I know you are aware. Great pickup!
Uh... dibs? Seriously, I know nothing about vintage GMT's, but I know what I like, and that is one of the prettiest vintage Rolexes I remember seeing. Congrats and wear it in good health.
Serial is spot on, you have yourself a keeper. Hard to replace/upgrade from that one.. 558s are no worries, indeed for a DJ but also used on GMTs.. The fit is not bad. Are they 1.8 or 2 mm spring bars?
Thanks! 2mm spring bars. I just changed over to my 78360/580s from my 1016. What do you think? But I think I might try to source a Jubilee. Now that I have an extra 78360, maybe when I reach my 200 posts I will post a WTT for one of those...
Looks fantastic! What's there not to like...and correct spring bars for the end link. As noted, MK 4 is a very desirable dial to have in your collection. Wear it in good health.
