I smell either sketch seller or just lazy listing. How can he call this both new and vintage? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-300-S...164355799?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3a7a8fecd7Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
All the parts are new, the movement is original vintage, so its a bit of both really. The new parts are all Omega spares and the watch was assembled by a third party, not by Omega.
Movement is genuine and vintage. Case, bezel, dial, hands, crown and bracelet are new replacement parts all currently avaliable from Omega or authorized suppliers. WatchCo in Australia has been doing this for years. In a way, you're getting the best of both worlds, gatorcpa
But, I suppose the real questions are: 1. How would one value such a piece? and; 2. Is it really collectible as a vintage piece?
They are great looking watches and the 1171 bracelet is a very popular option for these watches. I guess they are not really truly vintage nor NOS since the movement is probably from some other vintage Omega model and the rest of the watch is made up of new service parts.................but I really like mine I dont know how their collectability will be in say 20 years time
annnnnd, it just slipped out of my price range (which was inevitable)...i was hoping to stay in denial for a couple more days.
