Never thought I’d love an insurance salesman (Cyma content)

To my mind, there are two kinds of insurance agents - one is the pestering kind, who will bug you about getting a policy and then you have:

Either way, you’re screwed.

A year ago I met an insurance salesman who casually mentioned he collected watches. He showed me a few of his watches but none caught my attention then. I forgot about him until I saw his name pop up in a messaging app the other day. I asked if he had other watches to sell. He sent me a bunch of low quality pics but this caught my attention:

I asked him to bring some of them to my office today. I ended up getting these two:

I'm assuming both are from the 1940s (can anyone from the forum confirm?). The crown on the tear-drop lug might be a replacement(?). Otherwise, they are both in good condition - minimal wear, nice dial and creamy lumes. With the right straps, they’d even look better for sure.

After I cut him the check, he quickly proceeded to offer me his insurance policies. I guess that’s a small price to pay for two nice watches.

Great catch, Aaron! I would agree with your dating, and that the first crown is a likely replacement.

Cheers,

Tony

Have to say, Cyma’s never really been on my radar, but seeing some of them posted on the site, and especially these two beauties - that’s changing! I mean the mocha lume would be enough but add those lugs! Wow, nice catch.
