·I need a new car like a hole in the head but when that once in a lifetime chance opportunity presents itself should you ignore it?
Many factors played into this, regret, avarice, redemption and just sheer lust.
I just concluded negotiations on a new to me and indeed what can be best described as new Austin car having completed a full complete nut and bolt 7 year restoration at the end of 2022 and has not yet (not at all ) been driven on or off the road as it was a bit boxed in at the workshop where the restoration project was done.
Sadly the owner and restorer, a renowned Veteran and Vintage car restorer died unexpectedly mid 2024 without ever driving his last full car restoration, about 2 weeks after my 2 hour phone call to him regarding the sale of a previous restoration of a 1934 Austin 18/6 saloon.
Everyone I talked to who knew him had only the utmost respect and awe at his skills and I feel privileged to be able to honor the man and his memory and get to reap the benefits of his exceptional abilities.
The car has not even been registered or had a WOF but these are minor things given the calibre of the restorer.
Here is the car featured in a local VCC branch magazine Dec 2022 where it achieved restoration of the year!

Looks like my 1928 Saloon will soon have a stable mate.
