Hi! I'm a complete novice who's considering purchasing this Speedmaster 145.022-76 on ebay for my husband's 40th birthday:

He's always wanted one, and I thought it would be nice to get him one from the year of his birth (or close enough). After doing a bit of research, I'm overwhelmed with all the details and potential pitfalls. Is it legit? Is it priced well? Is there something wrong with it (replacement bezel, etc.)? I would love any advice you'd be willing to give and thank you in advance!

I think it looks all right, but is a bit expensive. I'd look to pay around $3000 for this, but since you're buying from a dealer you might expect to pay more.

The movement looks clean, but keep in mind you'll want to get it serviced since there are no service receipts; find a local watchmaker and expect to spend around $300-$500 or more.

There is a "Make Offer" so perhaps you can try your luck via this route?
