I have recently stepped into the watch world - there is a Seamaster Pro with sword hands for sale at a local jewelry store. There are no papers or boxes however they are only asking $800 for it - I have tried to price them out through research and can't seem to figure out why this is so cheap. I didn't think to take pictures of the actual case or dial - but I did get them to open the caseback and here are those pictures. Does everything seem legit? I can try and get more pictures later this week.

What should I focus on to make sure this is a good deal?

From what i can tell the serial number of the movement and the case appears to match. Also the movement before the coaxial 2500 in the Seamaster Pro is 1120. So at least that part is fine. as for the the dial, should be the wave dial. Should see how it's running and last time it's been serviced. May need to factor service cost if the seals need to be replaced.

The serial number is for a Seamaster Pro mid-sized watch, ref. 22525000. So this is the smaller version of the popular 22545000 with black dial and sword hands. The case on this one is 38 mm instead of the gent's sized version that is 43 mm.

Movement looks fine, but unless they have proof of a recent service from a reputable service provider (not just them telling you, but actual proof) then I would count on doing a service on it.

    Cheers, Al

They have no information on it - I'm like 90% sure it's been polished - I think I'm going to keep looking. Thanks for all your help everyone!

800 still seems like a good price. Not a super deal either though

$800 is a great price for a midsize auto Sword Hands. Whether or not you like it on your wrist is another story..

At 800 that's a good buy. Once serviced it's a great all around beater and beyond
