My buddy works at a gold refinery and someone turned this into him. He knows I'm a watch collector but not a expert in omegas and let me know that this was in his stock. I can't seem to find anything on this watch and was wondering what time period it's from as well as its value.. thanks!

It looks like a gold Omega.

Seriously, we can't tell you any more than that without more information.

Are there any marks on the back of the watch or anywhere on the bracelet?

Omega made literally hundreds of styles of those "jewellery" watches in the 1970s and 1980s.

My one guess is that it houses a Caliber 625.

I don't see an omega symbol. Would they leave that off a jewellery watch?

There's one there, original or shadow of an applied symbol I couldn't say without a better pic.

Here are some more photos and the only ones I have right now. I informed my buddy to text me more and I should have them by later today. He looked for markings beforehand when he took the watch apart (he took it apart to weigh it for gold value) and he didn't see any but I'm not 100% sure if he was looking hard enough. Hopefully when he gets back to me with some pictures they will be more detailed. Thanks for your advice and patience, I'm really curious about this watch!

US made case and integrated band. 14K, not 18K.

These were relatively common in the 1970's. Not particularly collectible. If you get it for gold melt, not a bad buy.

Who knows? They may come back in style some day.

I have a hard time seeing this one coming back into style, but then again, there's no accounting for taste ;)

I actually like that style haha

The gold melt is $985 and he is asking me for $1000 for it. Think hats a good buy.

    Watch out.

Gold is about $1,260/oz. right now. That means there is about 3/4 oz. to get that melt value.

Since 14K gold is only 58.3% fine, the case without the movement would need to weigh about 1.5 oz. to even get close to $985 in gold.

If they are just throwing the watch on a scale, you are paying $1,260/oz for the movement.

    Hope this helps,

He told me that the movement was removed in order to weigh the time piece. Does that change your opinion?

    Just remember the 14K percentage.

The movement is just about 5 to 10 grams. If the total weight without movement is 42 grams then the quote is about right.
