Need some help on a watch

I've been looking for a birth year watch for a while. After my first post the forum members were extremely helpful on posts to read and members that might help.

I've attached some pictures of a watch I've found. Any information you great folks could provide would be helpful.

It's claimed to be 1947 which is my birth year.

Thanks

David

Omega shows ref 2450 as first produced in 1949.

Movements were sometimes not cased for several years after production, so serial numbers can only tell so much.

Without an extract its hard to say for sure.

In general, 10.9M is plausibly 1946 or 1947, although as @X350 XJR mentioned, the OVD does indicate 1949 as a nominal date for the reference. The OVD also says 32.5mm, which is on the small side and affects the value. Condition is ok for the age, but not excellent. Overall, I would say something in the $300-$400 USD range.

I found the problem with searching for birth year watch is that it’s easy to talk yourself into a watch because of the year, rather than the attractiveness of the watch. And with Omega the date charts are approximate as explained above. And with my birth year (1953) the charts have no Omega serial numbers at all! So if found one with low 14 mil and another with high 13 mil serial numbers and I probably have one from 1953 between the 2, and I like both of them. So keep hunting and you will find something you like that will be “close enough”.

1953 serial numbers are well documented with a few 1000's military Watches in the same bracket ....

Exactly right. I find myself willing to pull the trigger on the date and compromising on the watch. Tkes self discipline to overcome that and wait for the right watch.

Thanks for the advice. David
