The seller said its a 60's lady omega watch. Red dial with raised gold figures and two black hands. Gold plated, manual wind
Lug Width: 10mm. Is it an authentic one? I have very little experience so any advice would be more than helpful.

Would need to see the reference number inside the case and far better photos than what you provided. I am going to go out on a limb and say that, at a minimum, it's a redial. I only had the pictures that the seller gave me. I was suspecting it to be a redial as well. Oh well... I'll get it and see how it is, sadly Omega lady watches are not appreciated and don't really cause a whole in the budged. I'll post some photos of it when I'll receive it. Thank you

 

If it was sold as original, I would return it. Next time, research first, buy later.

 

My October project is on hold but I got a lovely de ville .

 

sorry I don't have the tools to open it at the moment. Next year I need to service it.

 

It's a lovely little thing but I don't know how to open it. It has nothing on the back of the case where you can fit the case knife and apparently some idiot thought "this won't stop me"(it has a lot a lot of scratches from someone trying to open it) .
From research, inside should be a 484 calibre. I need to take it for a service anyway cause i have no service hiatory what so ever, so I haven't made an attempt to open it.
It is a remake as anticipated but I quite fancy it, been looking for a new strap as well.

 

It looks great on your wrist. Redial or not, the only thing that ever really counts is that you like it.

These things are as cheap as chips and plentiful. The photos are too poor to say if that's right or not but I'm yet to see a genuine red dial ... so, odds are that's not my first.

Still, as I say, they're not at all expensive and that's just because they're not in fashion. Maybe you could start a trend, in which case I'll have lots of them to offer you and everyone else! I genuinely don't understand why more women don't wear watches.

The only thing that matters with something like that red omega is that you like it so wear it with a smile.

 

It's a shame to see such beautiful watches selling for such prices. Well the fashion comes and goes and just like a classic pair of shoes, these watches are here to stay. I can't think of one person who would say that this, or any other vintage omega ladies watch is an ugly watch. I'm not a collector but I can't stop buying them because of the low price. Costs me more to have them serviced than what I paid for them lol.

I look at them and I am fascinated, just think about all the work it's been put in this tiny thing, 50-60 years ago, you can't stop being proud you have it on your wrist.

Whenever people ask me what I see in watches, I explain how astounding it is that such a precise machine an be made so small. Particularly with vintage watches where they were designed with pencil and paper; made by hand; decorated and assembled by hand ... yet every part comes together to form a whole that works for decades on end. Then I tend to show them a photograph of a Vacheron 453

If they like that, then I show them something newer ...

The low cost of obtaining one should be a bonus for you. I generally can't find what I'm looking for for under 300 sheckles. If you are replacing the strap you can get one wider that fits it properly. It would look better.

 

I am lucky I know. Waiting for one to arrive and hopefully by the end of the summer I will have it ready to wear
Do you have any suggestions on the strap ? I kept on looking for a 8mm one, I don't think anything wider would have room to fit. Then again, if at watches I've started doing research... on straps I'm at 0. I was looking for a hirsch one or maybe an omega for 8mm.

 

I've gotten this Omega bug recently myself and I'm doing my best to ensnare my mom and sister as well! Mom is going to get a surprise 50th Mother's Day gift in a couple weeks. Dad too, though I think he'll be into it! I'm keeping eyes peeled for the right watch for my sis who's come around grudgingly!

I know these bands aren't canonical but I think they make these vintage Omegas a little fresher and more relevant to the non-aficionado crowd. I'm going to pick one up for mom in Tokyo on Tuesday, God and inventory willing:
