Hello everyone, I’m a complete newbie at speedmasters and would appreciate anyone’s help here to look at this piece available in my local area. I tried comparing with photos online to see if things like the insert or hands were swapped out, whether the piece have been over polished. Another persons opinion will definitely help me make up my mind here. So ya, thanks! Lol
The seller says the watch was made between 1988-1990. Original bracelet. No retouch on the dial. Everything original. But I wonder if the insert is original from the pictures. Thanks again .

Are the wrist shots really all you have? Even if I don’t see anything wrong, I’m just reluctant to give an opinion based on those photos. By “insert” I suppose you mean the entire bezel, since inserts aren’t swapped on Speedmasters.

From what I can see, hands and bezel (insert) look correct, case looks good.

Thank you for the replies above. These are the only photos and information I have gotten from the seller. In your opinion, what other information should I acquire before making a decision?

It just depends how risk averse you are and how lucky you're feeling. And the price.

Are you ok if we tell you that we can't see anything obviously wrong from crappy photos, or would you like really good expert advice from comprehensive photos? Maybe the answer to that question depends on the asking price. If it's dirt cheap, then it's not a good idea to alienate the seller by asking a lot of questions; just buy it and take your chances. On the other hand, if the seller is asking a full retail price, then you should not only verify that everything is correct, but you need to confirm that the condition is excellent, which will really require good photos.

Got ya. I guess doing more research on my hand and asking more specific questions would be better.
Because I’m not looking for something excellent but same as other vintage collectors, would like to know if parts are original and not a franken watch. Price of the watch is slightly below market price.

I’ve gotten a few more “crappy” pics from the seller. I guess I don’t even know what to look out for ...

Well, the end links dont seem to be the same type

is the bracelet long enough to fit you?

when was the movement last Serviced and are there photos of the movement plus serial number and Inside case Back?

does it run, and do all the chronograph hands reset exactly to zero?

i wouldn't purchase any speedy without answers to these

End link seem to be the same type I see online, and the same as ‘The Father’ post below. As for the movement specifications, I will open the caseback when I meet with the seller. Thanks!!

The bezel font on the watch you present is kinda funny looking compared to mine.

812 and 812 😀 Not even certain those endlink numbers exist. Its kinda like those pesky movement numbers ...

Yessir! But in all honesty it also requires being able to see the way those pesky numbers are morphed by reflections/angle etc.
