    Hi guys,

I'd like to buy a Seamaster 165.024 and I just found this model below this morning.
The guy is asking 3300 euros.

Do you have any comment, feedback regarding this one. I know this model has been copied a lot and has it is not a professional seller I would not like to have a bad surprise.

    Thnaks

    Idea!

Read this forum and educate yourself about this model and buying vintage watches.

I'm not qualified to help you, but most will probably suggest that without pictures of the movement and caseback, and without an intimate knowledge of the model in question (that happens to be faked quite often), and not knowing the seller, things are not looking very good brother.

Hour and minute hands are wrong. Case appears polished. Bezel and dial may be original. Need inside photos

Looks like a vintage one but has wrong hour and minute hands. Case has not been nicely refinished. Lumes seems to have been scraped off almost completely. Need better pictures in daylight of the dial and back. If this watch has been serviced with pressure tested, sometimes the watchmaker has already taken pictures of the inside so you could ask for them. The watch is likely not cheap, so at least the caliber and serial numbers are needed for verification.

I wouldn't buy anything from a seller that supplied these crappy images. Its a crap shoot, but IMO there is nothing appealing about this watch.

You guys are a bit harsh. It looks ok to me. candlestick hands are known to be correct on earlier models, but a serial number would help to corroborate that. Agree case looks polished, not schocking for a 50 year old watch. bracelet is correct but looks new. Price seems maybe € 500 high - polished case, not great lume.

Ive bought many watches from crappier pictures than this.

Those are different candle stick hands, not the ones on this watch. Do you have sources for your opinion?

Yes you are correct, but those hands aren´t.

Stand corrected. He could still buy sword hands, but if hands are incorrect you'd be suspicious of what lies inside.

I would just never buy one of these Seamasters or Speedmasters that are weekly posted here with completely scraped lume. My first cal 321 Speedmaster had this problem, it was quite a while ago now and when I bought it I didn´t know better, I was just happy to have a 145.012.

These days with this and other forums and the wealth of knowledge easily available to find online there is really no excuse for buying one in such condition. Once bought the lack of lume will slowly but surely eat away any short term love of the piece. It is inevitable and will always happen. The only cure for this loss of love is of course to acquire another piece with decent lume.

My advice is to forget this one and keep looking.

The OP asked for advice...if its harsh so be it. The watch is not attractive at all, if the buyer is satisfied with the watch then its his prerogative to buy it.

As a seller, these photos are terrible. If the seller can't take the time to present his item in a more professional way then the images say a lot about him. Yes I too have bought many watches with worse photos, but I know what I'm looking for. I find that in many cases when the photos look like this, the seller is hiding something. YMMV

Way too much money. Even 2000 euros would be a lot considering the scraped off lume and the totally wrong hands

+1 on this advice! This a very poor example and way over-priced.

I was brand, spanking new to this world not too long ago (and still am) and every example of the models I had my eye on....every time one popped onto the market, it felt like (surely) this is the "last one ever". Well, it never was and this one won't be either.....nor the next! Wait, be patient, a good/great example will show up eventually and you will be glad you waited. This is an immutable law of watch collecting....and one everyone is destined to defy (and lose) in his or her own way!

What I find interesting is that there are natural light pics of the case but not the dial....
