    Hi guys!

Been on the forums on and off, and really appreciate the knowledge and help that it provides, I've had invaluable tips from here when purchasing vintage watches (not just omega!), so here goes

I'm not familiar much with Vintage Omega Seamasters, being more of a speedmaster fan, but about a week ago, I walked into a shop in __ (to be revealed!) to purchase a vintage Omega Seamaster 300 "Big Triangle" cal 565, and saw what looked like an absolutely beautiful Seamaster 300 (4th? iteration). I was quite fascinated by the condition, and went home to do some research. After several visits to the most popular "how to buy a Vintage Omega Seamaster 300" sites, I decided to make the purchase.

So I now humbly submit the photos of my watch, for the community to pass verdict... is this a good buy? Or a franken/dud/fake that I should hang my head in shame for not being able to identify?

The proof lies before us! Some details

    Omega Seamaster 300 "Big triangle"
    Ref 166.024
    Movement no 287xxxxx
    Cal 565
All original case, crown, and bracelet

Note some photos show an accompanying Seamaster 300 ref CK 2913, I did not purchase that, but also considering it. Any opinion on that watch too?

Look forward (with trepidation) to the forum's verdict!

Bezel is redone on the 2913, and not well

    Nice 165.024

Well as the owner only of a Watchco 300 I'm not too hot on these, but since nobody's answering so far here's my (fairly basic and not reliable!) thoughts on the 166.024:
    Open 6 and 9 - good.
    No stubbies - good.
Correct script on case back - good.
Signs of wear to bezel and case back - good.
Different discoloration of markers and numbers on bezel - good.
    Cal 565 movt (I assume 525 is a typo) - good.
The crowns on both watches look newer to me than the rest, so perhaps service replacement but again, the need for that to have been done would seem a positive sign.
The lume on dial and hands is amazingly good, too good to be true? I don't know.
I'm not even going to attempt to comment on the other as I have absolutely no idea.

Thanks for the comments guys! I ran through three check list too, scripting seemed ok, which is why I decided to buy it. I'm hoping someone with a better eye than me can see something beyond the usual suspects.

I do agree the lumeb and perhaps case back look too good, leading me to have my doubts

P.S thanks for the headsup on the wrong cal, its changed to 565 now
