My Omega Seamaster needs a new battery. It's the first time it's needed replacing since I've owned the watch. Will a dealer send it off to Omega to be resealed or do some places do this on site? How much is it likely to cost? Any recommended places where I should take it in or around Leeds?
Hi there, A lot of the boutiques and ADs have a "watch maker" in house that can change the battery and re-seal. Best bet would be to call around and see. Cheers Chris
Dunno if there's any large retailer similar to a Tourneau around Leeds, but way back when I had my TAG Heuer Formula 1 they changed the battery for me for free (or might have been $20, either way for a kid on his first job out of college it was quite affordable!)
Hi I understand STS (Swiss Time Services) in Essex charge £75 for a battery, case and bracelet clean/finish and include a 2 yr warranty. They are also an Omega approved service centre from their website. Personally I have never used them but probably will when mine is due. I've seen a number of good reviews maybe someone who has used them can comment? Regards
Not sure tbh - best bet is to use the boutique/ad search tool on the Omega website to see who's close by, and then give a few places a call.
Thanks guys, very useful as always. It will be a couple of weeks before I get chance to call into town but I'll let you know how I get on.
Remember any questions related to batteries are best addressed by a query to @ulackfocus . He is our battery expert at OF. (any battery from flashlights to boats )
Yes, I am. I know better than anyone it's best to return a battery powered piece of technology, and get a real piece of horology instead.
My watchmaker replaces all batteries for a standard 10 dollar flat rate. He charges the same for an invicta to a Rolex. He's changed a few omegas and a tag for me. He works on my mechanicals as well. I appreciate Quartz as an electrical engineer, that technology was difficult to obtain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's what us mere mortals who don't have the pleasure of wearing our watches every day have to own. I can't wear my watch for work so it only gets used on a weekend and I sure can't be arsed to reset the time each week.
