    Hey guys,

I am curious to see your opinions on this very old omega, it seems to be in amazing condition, and I'm not sure if the crown is kosher. Any advice would be lovely.

Just curious -- do you guys think that modern or later replacement crowns are always a problem, or just when they don't seem to match the style or period of the original case and crown very well as here? I would have no problem with a crown that looked a little more 1940s dress watch style.

    All of the above.

Problem is that no one really knows which models originally had signed crowns and which ones did not. By the early 1950's, they were almost all signed.

The crown on your watch looks too small and generic. The Omega crowns from that era (even unsigned ones) were generally a bit larger in diameter.

In your case I beleive you should attempt to replace the crown with one that is more in keeping with the period and design of the watch, such as the bowler crown shown above by Omegastar

The watch of the OP is not waterproofed. Yours is.
The waterproofed case needs a waterproofed crown. The OP watch doesn't.

Actually those cases were waterproofed with China lacker.

Gatorcpa -- I hear ya -- the OP's watch crown clearly does not look like a 1940s crown (of course, we aren't talking about my watch here). But that's my question -- if a modern or vintage replacement were available -- not absolutely identical to the original but was reasonably close and of a comparable style -- is that considered OK? Hoipolloi's and Omegastar's crowns are not identical. Steve says "get one more in keeping with the style and design of the watch" which would be my approach, I think, even if it wasn't identical to the original.

"OK" is a relative term. What's OK to me, may not be OK to another collector.

Certainly, something reasonably close to original (i.e. current recommended factory replacements) is preferable to something not even close. But neither is as nice as original and pricing at auctions usually (but not always) reflects this.

These two have period appropriate crowns, similar to the others. These are also the most similar in terms of dial design. Hope this helps.

Here's another option for crown for these. I believe them to be original for this model
